Print and Printing Options in Microsoft Word

You should know have the knowledge to design and create professional looking documents using formatting, lists and tables. You know how to save you document. The last part is printing. Let's look at printing options.

Reasons to Change Printing Options:
  • Previewing what your document will look like when it prints.
  • You only want to print part of a document.
  • You want to print the document sideways (landscape).
  • Printing multiple copies of a document.
  • Changing paper size.

This is the final step in the process of creating document. Git Er Done!

Previewing what your document will look like when it prints:

You want to see what a document will look like before it is printed. Preview.

  1. Left click on File on the menu bar.
  2. Click on Print Preview.
  3. Looks ok. Click on the picture of the printer.
  4. Doesn't look good, play with the options. Here they are.
You want to print the page sideways (landscape).

Especially useful when printing newsletters, flyers and charts.
  1. Click on File on the menu bar.
  2. Click on Page Setup.
  3. Click on the Paper Size.
  4. Select the landscape option.
  5. Click "Ok"
  6. Click File.
  7. Click Print.
  8. Click Ok.
  9. Now just sit back and enjoy the landscape.
Printing multiple copies of a document.

While you are there, print more than 1.
  1. Click on File on the menu bar.
  2. Click on Print.
  3. Increase the number of copies.
  4. Click Ok.
Changing paper size...letter and legal and A4, oh my.

Need a different size of paper this time? No problem.
  1. Click on File on the menu bar.
  2. Click on Page Setup.
  3. Click on the Paper Size.
  4. Select the paper type you would like.
  5. Click "Ok"
  6. Click File.
  7. Click Print.
  8. Click Ok.
