Save and Save As... in Word - Image Tutorial

Saving your documents frequently can help avoid losing work. Here is how to do it.


Use Save to store changes to a file:

  1. Left click on File on the menu bar.



  2. Click on Save.



  3. That should be all. Nothing will likely come up and tell you it was saved.
    OR
  4. Another possibility is that the "Save" is "greyed out". This likely means you haven't made changes to the file.
    OR
  5. The final option is that the "Save As..." window will pop-up.
  6. Type in a filename.
  7. Click Save



Using "Save As..." to change the filename or location:
  1. Click on File on the menu bar.



  2. Click on "Save As..."



  3. Enter the new filename.
  4. Select the file location.
  5. Click "Save"
