Adding Hyperlinks in Word - Image Tutorial

You can add hyperlinks in Word that link to other sections in the document, files, and websites.


How to Add Hyperlinks to a Website in Word:

  1. Open Microsoft Word.(How do I open microsoft word?)
  2. Type in text.



  3. Highlight the text you would like to hyperlink.



  4. Click on "Insert" on the menu bar.



  5. Click on "Hyperlinks".



  6. Type in the web address (ie. www.tutorialcomputer.com) you would like go to when the text is clicked.
  7. Click Ok.



How to Add Hyperlinks to a File in Word:
  1. Open Microsoft Word.(How do I open microsoft word?)
  2. Type in text.



  3. Highlight the text you would like to hyperlink.



  4. Click on "Insert" on the menu bar.



  5. Click on "Hyperlinks".



  6. Click on "File".



  7. Find the file you would like go to when the text is clicked.
  8. Click Ok.



  9. Click Ok (again).
How to Add Hyperlinks to Sections Within a Document in Word:
***To Add Hyperlinks to Sections within a Document, you must first add headings or bookmarks.*** How do I Add Headings and Bookmarks?
  1. Open Microsoft Word.(How do I open microsoft word?)
  2. Type in text.



  3. Highlight the text you would like to hyperlink.



  4. Click on "Insert" on the menu bar.



  5. Click on "Hyperlinks".



  6. Click on "Place in This Document".
  7. If you have created headings or bookmarks, you can link to them. You can also link to the top of the page.
    Honestly, I just discovered bookmarks and headings so don't feel bad if you don't know what they are.
    What are headings and bookmarks and how do I add them?
  8. Select the location in the document you want to go to when the text is clicked.
  9. Click Ok.
