Undo and Redo in Microsoft Excel

If no one in the world ever made mistakes, we would all have a lot less to learn. Unfortunaly, we aren't perfect and Microsoft says as much. If you don't like it, take it up with them or boycott this tutorial. Just kidding.

There are functions to undo and redo changes made in excel in case you make a mistake or simply don't like the most recent changes made to your document.

Reasons to use Undo or Redo in Excel:

  • You just changed text in a file and don't like the new text. UNDO
  • You change the formating of your spreadsheet and don't like the new formatting. UNDO
  • You click on something by accident in your sheet and you don't know what just happened and don't like it. UNDO
  • You used undo but changed your mind. REDO

This lesson will show you how to use the undo and redo function in Excel for good and not evil. Do not be tempted by the dark side (like going around the office and undoing everyone's recent changes)! Just in case, I will not tell you the shortcuts for them like pressing Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y to redo. Oops...

I know what your are thinking. That's it. It's that easy. Why didn't I know about this two years ago? It would have saved me a lot of hassle. That question I cannot answer, however, you should now be able to fix mistakes with ease and you don't have to worry about making changes since most of them can be undone. Please do not try to use undo redo in real life situations because it doesn't work. Trust me.
