Formatting Numbers in Excel - Image Tutorial

Need to have percentages, dates and decimals? You can format numbers in Microsoft Excel to match what the number represents.


How to Format Numbers as a Percentage:

  1. Open Microsoft Excel.(How do I open microsoft excel?)
  2. Click on the cell of which you would like to change the number format.



  3. Click on the percent sign (%) on the formatting toolbar.



  4. Or (instead of step 4)
  5. Click Format on the menu bar.



  6. Click Cells.



  7. The format cells window will pop-up. Click the "Number" tab.
  8. Click on "Percentage".
  9. Click OK.

How to Format Numbers as Currency ($):
  1. Open Microsoft Excel.(How do I open microsoft excel?)
  2. Click on the cell of which you would like to change the number format.



  3. Click on the dollar sign ($) on the formatting toolbar.



  4. Or (instead of step 4)
  5. Click Format on the menu bar.



  6. Click Cells.



  7. The format cells window will pop-up. Click the "Number" tab.
  8. Click on "Currency".
  9. Click OK.
