Creating Shortcuts - Image Tutorials

  • You want to easily and quickly be able to access a file or program. click).
  • You want to make it easy for someone else to access a file, folder or program

Method 1: Creating a shortcut using right click:
I usually use this method but the other one is just as easy.
  1. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer.
    How do I open My Computer?
  2. Find the program or file, you want to make a shortcut to.


  3. Right click on it.


  4. Go over "Send To".


  5. Click on Desktop Shortcut.


  6. Rename the shorcut on your desktop if you wish.
    (You can do this by right clicking on it and clicking rename.)


Method 2: Creating a shortcut by dragging and dropping:
This method is great for when you want to put the shortcut in the start menu or desktop.
  1. Find the program or file, you want to make a shortcut to.


  2. Right click and hold the mouse button. (normally drag and drop is the left mouse button)


  3. Drag the file, folder or program to the desired location of the shortcut.


  4. Release the right mouse button.
  5. A small window should appear. Left click on Create Shorcuts Here.


  6. Rename the shorcut if you wish. (You can do this by right clicking on it and clicking rename.)
