Creating Shortcuts

Perfect to save time, increase efficiency or help people that are not as computer savvy as you.

Reasons to create shortcuts:

  • You want to easily and quickly be able to access a file or program. click).
  • You want to make it easy for someone else to access a file, folder or program
There are two easy ways to create shortcuts. The first involves right clicking and using the Send To option and the next involves drag and drop.

So you are ready to save yourself some time and effort. Very well.

Method 1: Creating a shortcut using right click:

I usually use this method but the other one is just as easy.

  1. Find the program or file, you want to make a shortcut to.
  2. Right click on it.
  3. Go over "Send To".
  4. Click on Desktop Shortcut.
  5. Rename the shorcut if you wish. (You can do this by right clicking on it and clicking rename.)
Method 2: Creating a shortcut by dragging and dropping:

This method is great for when you want to put the shortcut in the start menu or desktop.
  1. Find the program or file, you want to make a shortcut to.
  2. Right click and hold the mouse button. (normally drag and drop is the left mouse button)
  3. Drag the file, folder or program to the desired location of the shortcut.
  4. Release the right mouse button.
  5. A small window should appear. Left click on Create Shorcuts Here.
  6. Rename the shorcut if you wish. (You can do this by right clicking on it and clicking rename.)
Now you know how to create shortcuts. You can access any file or folder in seconds. How does it feel?
